City wins Ontario Public Works Association Award for corporate asset management

The City of Burlington has won the prestigious 2014 IT Symposium award from the Ontario Public Works Association for work on the Corporate Asset Management System implementation (Riva Decision Support implementation).

This annual competition provides an opportunity for municipalities across Ontario to showcase their IT initiatives and accomplishments directed at improving the delivery of Public Works services. All submissions are first reviewed by an OPWA panel and then short listed for presentations at the annual OPWA IT Symposium which took place on April 16, 2014. There were eight presentations in what proved to be a very tight competition from other municipalities such as City of Hamilton, Region of Waterloo, City of Kitchener, City of Brantford and even a submission from Ontario Good Roads Association. The Burlington submission was unique in that the methodology and implementation was done in house by City staff.

Paul Rohoman did an excellent job in presenting the City’s project and summarizing how important this initiative has been in developing the City’s corporate asset management and infrastructure renewal financing strategy.

The winner was chosen based on the initial review of the OPWA panel as well as interactive judging by the symposium attendees. The award will be formally presented to the City of Burlington at the 2015 OGRA/ROMA Combined Conference that will take place in February of 2015.

Congratulations go to Italo DiPietro, Paul Rohoman, Trevor Clark and the entire Corporate Asset Management team for their great work and achievement on this project!
