P&D Nov. 6: Public meeting for 22 storey at Brock/Ontario; 7 storey at Upper Middle

2. Statutory Public Meetings:

Statutory public meetings are held to present planning applications in a public forum as required by the Planning Act. This is an information meeting to hear from the public, and allow council members to make preliminary comments to staff on the proposal. No decisions will be made at this meeting. At a future date, staff will bring forward a recommendation report, that will recommend one of approval, refusal, or modified approval.
Recommendation: Receive and file planning and building department report PB-41-17 regarding the
proposed zoning by-law amendment for 4063 Upper Middle Road, to permit the development of a seven (7) storey apartment building with 32 units.

Speaking at the meeting

Residents can register to delegate (speak to committee) on any item on the agenda for up to 10 minutes. Advance registration is not required for Statutory Public Meetings, but residents who register will be heard first, in the order the registered: Register as a Delegation, email cityclerks@burlington.ca or phone 905-335-7600, ext. 7481.

Any motions or recommendations arising from this meeting will go to City Council for final approval Mon. Nov. 13, 6:30 pm, in Council Chambers. Residents can delegate at council for up to five minutes. Advance registration is required: Register as a Delegation

If you already spoke on an item at Committee, you can speak to Council, but must bring new information on that item.

I was inspired to seek public office because I believe, like so many of you, “I can do something about that” on the issues we face. As councilor, my role is to take a stand on what’s best for residents and go to bat for it. Pushback is inevitable from those who don’t have the community’s interests at heart. I will stand with you and for you, to achieve the best interests of our city, without caving to unacceptable compromise in the name of consensus.

  1. Will this be a condo development, or will it be the same as the last condo they built on Brock – registered as condos, but is presently a rental building. I know that this building was sold and is not owned by the Molinaro Group. Once again 179 units with 185 parking spaces!!!!

    • Marianne Meed Ward we don’t need more condo’s in burlington we need more affordable apartment buildings. I wouldn’t have an issue with this building if it matched the one that already there beside where they are wanting to put this. I also have an issue with where they want to put the in/out to this building on the busiest street connecting maple and brant street during 5-8 is so busy with people coming home on a weekday. Also for how far they are going for the underground they will hit water, I dont want to be looking at a mess like there is across from the performing art’s centre.

  2. Will this development be a rental building or a condominium? The other building the Molinaro’s built on Brock was registered as condos but was a rental building. Wondering if this is what they are planning on doing again.
