Marriot confirmed for Bridgewater; potential variances required

Bridgewater Lakeshore and Elizabeth | Burlington waterfrontThe Marriot Hotel has been confirmed for the Bridgewater project being developed at the foot of Elizabeth/Pearl and Lakeshore Road on Burlington’s downtown waterfront.

The project features a 22-storey residential tower, 8-storey hotel, and 7-storey condominium, with retail along Lakeshore Road, and a public walkway along the shoreline.

The hotel has requested some changes to the proposal, which may require variances. These include building some office space for the hotel on the ninth floor, within the same height as the rooftop mechanical and design features. The rooftop design element (the blue waterfall feature) is permitted to be higher than the top of the building, as decorative elements are not counted towards the height measurement.  If the top of the proposed ninth floor office is below the top of the decorative element there would be no additional impact on views.

If variances are required, residents within 60 metres of the property would be notified of the date and time of the Committee of Adjustment meeting to decide on the variances. I will also post that information here.
