Tyandaga Environmental Coalition hosting meeting Nov. 16 to protect Burlington greenbelt, stop the quarry expansion

The Tyandaga Environmental Coalition is hosting a free community meeting Nov. 16 in its continued effort to stop the quarry expansion on King Road backing onto the Tyandaga neighbourhood.

The meeting features remarks from Gord Miller, the former Environmental Commissioner of Ontario, David Donnelly, an environmental lawyer & former Director of the Canadian Defense Fund, and other health and environmental experts.

I was inspired to seek public office because I believe, like so many of you, “I can do something about that” on the issues we face. As councilor, my role is to take a stand on what’s best for residents and go to bat for it. Pushback is inevitable from those who don’t have the community’s interests at heart. I will stand with you and for you, to achieve the best interests of our city, without caving to unacceptable compromise in the name of consensus.

  1. As a person who has had a long connection to and interest in the natural world, I wish everyone good luck in getting this changed. However, the more hard-headed legal side of me also recognizes that you face an uphill battle.
