The community workshops brought together businesses, residents and developers to outline a vision for the downtown that can be included in the city’s next Official Plan. Background on this series of workshops is below.
Date: Thursday, April 20
Place: Lion’s Club, 471 Pearl St.
The city has just released a new draft Official Plan but the details on the downtown will be held until city staff complete their work on Mobility Hubs, of which downtown is one. The April 20 public meeting is part of staff’s mobility hub work. The design of the meeting has yet to be set, but is expected to be similar to the other Destination Downtown workshops, featuring round-table discussions on a variety of topics related to the downtown, including height and density, greenspace, streetscaping, affordability, business development and attracting families downtown.
The draft Official Plan will be discussed by council at a Committee of the Whole workshop April 6. Residents can attend and listen, but as a workshop no delegations will be registered. The plan will then go out for general public input.
