New Street, Drury Lane road construction update

Work on the New Street and Drury Lane project is continuing quickly and some changes to the timelines have been made.

Drury Lane and the Drury-Prospect intersection were scheduled to be completed in 2017.  This work has been moved up and will be undertaken this year. The traffic calming pilot project on Drury Lane will be delayed as a result. Staff will schedule an open house related to the traffic calming in late May.

I was inspired to seek public office because I believe, like so many of you, “I can do something about that” on the issues we face. As councilor, my role is to take a stand on what’s best for residents and go to bat for it. Pushback is inevitable from those who don’t have the community’s interests at heart. I will stand with you and for you, to achieve the best interests of our city, without caving to unacceptable compromise in the name of consensus.

  1. Where have they been in the last week? It seems a way-too-frequent occurrence in Burlington that big road projects gets started and then abandoned for weeks or more. I haven’t seen activity there in almost a week, yet the entire roadway is ripped up, trucks are parked there and you can’t use the road. Burlington seems to love starting projects, but finishing them in a timely manner is another story.

What's your take?
