I was inspired to seek public office because I believe, like so many of you, “I can do something about that” on the issues we face. As councilor, my role is to take a stand on what’s best for residents and go to bat for it. Pushback is inevitable from those who don’t have the community’s interests at heart. I will stand with you and for you, to achieve the best interests of our city, without caving to unacceptable compromise in the name of consensus.

  1. Anyone know Kelly Arnott? She organizes it. I’m all for raising money for our Hospital but also at what cost to people living on Lakeshore road, specially on the south side. I order the cars to help us get out for past several years and no one shows up! Last year the race official outside my building said they accepted more participants than they could handle! Every year it’s longer (time held hostage in your home). Why can’t it be elsewhere? Or why do they need all 3 lanes?

    • Seriously – you know when the roads close, move your car to a side street before they do, and you can get out whenever you’d like. We lived on Spruce when the race was run along there so I know first hand what you speak, and always enjoyed watching the racers run past the house. I never considered us to be “hostages”…a little hysterical don’t you think?

      • Marianne, this needs to change. A large portion of South Burlington is being inconvenienced
so a private individual (Arnott) financially benefits. Since this involves public facilities, the financial details should be transparent.

  2. Marianne, my understanding is that the organizers of this race benefit financially in addition to the donation to Joseph Brant. Since a large swath of south Burlington is inconvenienced on an annual basis, is it too much to ask that complete financial disclosure about this event be made public?

Further, since south Burlington seems to be continually inconvenienced with several of these races, I would like to see the city start to “share” these races across the city.

  3. Is there talk of ever moving this race or alternating the sides of Lakeshore that can access the road. We’re on the south side and are always trapped in our building. Even when we book a martial to come they never show up. It affects our kids Swim classes and one son’s bday. Tired of being held hostage in my home or having to deal with issues for my son to have a bday party
