Citizens' Committees

The City of Burlington and its citizen committees are hosting a volunteer open house Thursday, Oct. 22 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. to recruit volunteers for the city’s committees and boards.

The event details are:

Thursday, Oct. 22, 2015
Burlington City Hall
426 Brant St., Burlington
6:30 to 8 p.m.

Everyone is welcome to come out and learn about the committees and see why volunteering on a local board or committee can help you to meet new people, share your talents, develop skills, address a common interest and make a difference in your community. Current volunteers are also invited to attend as a networking opportunity.

Applications for local boards and committees close Oct. 30, 2015.

For more information about the Volunteer Open House, committees or to apply for a volunteer position, contact the Clerks Department at 905-335-7600, ext. 7481 or visit www.burlington.ca/citizens.

I was inspired to seek public office because I believe, like so many of you, “I can do something about that” on the issues we face. As councilor, my role is to take a stand on what’s best for residents and go to bat for it. Pushback is inevitable from those who don’t have the community’s interests at heart. I will stand with you and for you, to achieve the best interests of our city, without caving to unacceptable compromise in the name of consensus.

What's your take?
