Ask the Councillor: Directional Signs at Centennial Bikeway & Martha

Marianne Meed WardResident R.T. asks: The directional signage at the intersection of Martha Street and the Centennial Bikeway have been installed incorrectly.

Response:

The directional signs at Martha St. encourage path users to follow the designated bike route south on Martha and west on Pine St. to the facilities on Brant St., rather than cross through the numerous parking lots on the way to Brant. City staff intend to install two wayfinding signs at Martha St./Pine St. and Pine St./Brant St. to connect the Centennial Bikeway to the existing vehicular wayfinding signs in the downtown area. Additional signs are planned for Lakeshore Dr. and Martha St., directing people to Brant St. to be installed sometime in March.

Resident R.T. asks: The directional signage at the intersection of Martha Street and the Centennial Bikeway have been installed incorrectly. They point people south to Lakeshore to get to City Hall and downtown, rather than straight ahead. Can this be corrected?
