Construction in Brant & Elgin lot for last leg of Elgin St promenade expected to be complete Dec. 1

Construction in the Brant & Elgin parking lot for the third leg of the Elgin St Promenade between Pearl Street and Brant Street is expected to be complete by Dec. 1.The lot will be reconfigured to contain a small parkette, per the sketch.

A final leg of the promenade is planned at a later date to connect the promenade to the Centennial Bike Path through the private parking lot between Martha and Pearl Streets. The first leg was completed in the north end of the city parking lot between Pearl and Elizabeth Streets earlier this year.

The project was funded by contributions from the City of Burlington, Federal government infrastructure funding and the Burlington Downtown Business Association, which contributed $50k.

I was inspired to seek public office because I believe, like so many of you, “I can do something about that” on the issues we face. As councilor, my role is to take a stand on what’s best for residents and go to bat for it. Pushback is inevitable from those who don’t have the community’s interests at heart. I will stand with you and for you, to achieve the best interests of our city, without caving to unacceptable compromise in the name of consensus.
