Help break a world record Oct. 2 in support of our hospital. We need 3,373 people and you!

guinness-world-recordYou are invited to “Join the J!” Oct. 2 and be part of Joseph Brant Hospital’s attempt to break a Guinness World Records for most people forming a human letter.

The fun begins at noon in Spencer Smith Park in downtown Burlington this Sunday, as we try to form a human “J.” You will get an orange poncho to wear (Guinness rules require all participants to wear the same thing), and an orange “Join the J” bracelet. When we are successful, participants will get a black “Guinness World Records holder” bracelet, and everyone’s names will be posted on a mural in the hospital.

Batman, Spiderman and Superman will be at Join the J. Will you?

This free event is family friendly – even infants count toward our numbers (but unfortunately not pets). We’ll have some superheros on hand – Batman, Spiderman and Superman – entertainment, light refreshments during the event, and food trucks which open after we break the record.

The goal of the event is to show that great things can happen when we come together as a community.

jo-brant-redevelopmentThe redevelopment of our hospital – scheduled to open within a year – is just one example. This project wouldn’t have gotten shovel in the ground without significant community support. Sunday’s event is not a fundraiser. It aims to raise community awareness of the great things happening at our community hospital as we head into the final phase of the redevelopment project.

We’re aiming to beat the previous record set in September by Queen’s University in Kingston, Ont. of 3,373 people forming a “Q”. As a Carleton University grad, I challenge all students from any university, including Queen’s students from Burlington, to show our civic pride and become the new world record holder!
