Support FreeP! Park in your usual spot

The FreeP! free parking program is back, kicking off Dec. 1. If you work downtown, you can be a FreeP! supporter by parking in your usual parking spot, and leaving onstreet and parking lots available for driveup visitors to the downtown.

Now in its third year, the FreeP! promotion in December has been very well received by businesses in the downtown, along with residents and visitors. During the busy holiday season, the promotion encourages residents and visitors to come downtown to shop, celebrate and explore the people and places that make downtown a great place to visit, live and work.

All employees of businesses downtown can help build on the success of this program by continuing to park in your assigned lots throughout the month of December. Your co-operation helps to ensure free parking spaces remain available for downtown visitors who bring valuable business to our downtown neighbours.

To ensure that key lots are kept open for visitors, city staff will again close the Brant/Elgin Street municipal lot and the Elizabeth/Pine municipal lot across from Village Square to all but regular monthly permit holders prior to 9am on weekday mornings.

In addition, on-street parking, while free in December, is still subject to time restrictions (3hrs). parking in municipal lots or the parking garage on Locust St does not have time restrictions. In addition, residents can leave their car overnight in municipal lots downtown throughout December, and between the hours of 6pm and 9am weekdays and all day Saturday and Sunday the rest of the year.
