Sidewalk & road reconstruction Plains Rd, Maple to Helena

Mid-September start

Minor reconstruction of Plains Road East from Maple Avenue to Helena Street is expected to begin mid-September and includes the following scope of work:

• Storm sewer replacement
• Road asphalt replacement
• Curbs and sidewalk replacement

There are no extended road closures scheduled on this project. A full road closure will be permitted at night between the hours of 7:00pm and 6:30am for asphalt removal and paving activities. Single lane restrictions will occur during the day between the hours of 7:00am to 5:00pm for all other construction activities, including concrete repairs and storm sewer replacement.

It is expected that the roadways will be in a gravel state for an extended period of time at which point the contractor will suppress any dust and/or nuisance caused by the granular with a dust-controlling agent.

The storm sewer work and base coat of asphalt is expected to be completed by mid-November. The remaining work, including top coat of asphalt, will be completed in the Spring of 2018.

  1. Hello Marianne. During the re-construction of Old Plains road, great chance to do something with the eyesore that is the C.N. railway bridge. It reduces the tone of the whole neighbourhood.Now that we have the beautiful Habitat building I think it is time to put pressure on C.N. to put a lick of paint on that rusty edifice.
